Being involved in a car accident is scary and is even more so when someone has been struck by a car. An auto accident took place early last month in which a Maryland pedestrian was killed. Authorities are still investigating the incident.
Authorities received a report about the pedestrian accident after 6 p.m. Upon a preliminary investigation, authorities determined that the pedestrian was possibility hit when he was attempting to cross the street. Medical crews transported the pedestrian to a medical facility where he was hospitalized in critical condition. After about one month in the hospital, the pedestrian died as a result of his injuries.
The driver who struck the pedestrian stayed at the scene. It's not known if authorities plan on issuing criminal charges or citations to the driver. No other information about this incident has been reported.
An auto accident is a daunting experience for victims and their families. Sadly, a pedestrian has died as a result and his family is left to mourn their loss. As the family prepares the funeral, they may be wondering if they have any legal recourse in the aftermath of this tragedy. Depending on the outcome of this continuing investigation, the family may have the right to file a wrongful death claim against the driver. The civil court system in Maryland may award damages if evidence presented to the court proves that the driver operated in a negligent manner at the time of the crash and that's what led to the pedestrian's death.
