One of the last things someone wants to learn is that a family member has died in a car accident. Unfortunately, these catastrophes do happen and families are undoubtedly left devastated. Tragically, a fatal auto accident in Maryland has claimed the life of an 88-year-old woman and injured others.
The three-car accident happened on a recent Saturday morning. Authorities responded to the scene and conducted an initial investigation into the collision that happened near an interstate exit ramp. According to that investigation, police believe that the accident unfolded like a chain reaction that began when a sedan was struck by a pickup truck, which was then struck by a another car.
A passenger in the sedan died from the injuries she sustained in the accident. Others who were involved in the collision suffered injuries that have not been specified. Authorities are still investigating the crash and no other information has been released.
An auto accident can leave its victims suffering from injuries or leave families of victims suffering from their losses. In this particular case, no details concerning liability have been released, so it is possible that the family members of the deceased woman may have the right to file a wrongful death claim in a Maryland civil court against the driver of the pickup truck or the driver of the other car for the losses associated with the death of their loved one. In addition, the injured parties may also have be eligible to file personal injury claims against the negligent party or parties and, if successful, claims may result in compensation being awarded.
